Having a privacy policy on your website is a legal requirement in the UK.
You can use this free privacy policy generator – you just sign up for a free account.
Go through and answer the questions – say yes to Google Analytics (even if you don’t install them, we need to submit the site to Google which does require putting some code on the site so this just covers any eventuality now and in the future) and just use your own email address where required.
If you are in any doubt about question just tick yes – nobody will ever read this policy (!) but it is a legal requirement and Google will penalize you if you don’t have one.
At the end, you can preview your the policy and tick the blue “add to website” button. This takes you to a page of html code. Just copy the whole lot and paste into your privacy policy page in the raw text field.
You can also view the policy via your dashboard at a later time.
