What SEO actually means

SEO stands for search engine optimisation — it's the work that helps your website show up when people search for what you offer. Done well, it's a mix of technical fixes, better content, and steady improvements over time.

What it isn't: a magic switch, a guaranteed #1 ranking, or something that needs a six-month contract before you see a result. A lot of it is straightforward, practical work — and I'll explain exactly what I'm doing and why at every step.

I don't make promises I can't keep. I focus on the stuff that actually moves the needle for small businesses.

What we actually do

01 Free SEO Healthcheck

I run your homepage through SEO tools and take a manual look at the homepage — speed, structure, rankings, and the obvious wins. You get a short report and a 30-minute call to talk through what I found. No cost, no obligation.

02 SEO Starter Pack

I start with a full audit — technical, on-page, and strategic — and build a priority list of what needs fixing and in what order. Then I work through the list, starting with the highest-impact items first. A smaller site will get further in 5 hours than a larger one, but you'll always know exactly what was done, what's still on the list, and what to tackle next.

03 Ongoing work (if it makes sense)

Once the foundations are solid, we look at what else can move the needle — content, product pages, seasonal updates, local SEO. Most clients do a small number of hours per month. Some don't need anything else for a while, and that's fine too.

Simple, flexible,
no surprises

SEO Starter Pack £360 (5 hours)

The starting point for all SEO work. Full audit, priority list, then highest-impact fixes in the time available. One-off, no commitment.

Larger or more complex sites may need more than 5 hours to get through everything — I'll always say so upfront before we start.

Monthly SEO Package from £150/month (min 2 hours)

A regular block of hours to keep making progress — content, product pages, technical fixes, local SEO, or whatever the site needs most. Hours are agreed based on your budget and priorities, with no lock-in contract.

Most clients do between 2 and 10 hours a month once the Starter Pack is done.

PAYG Hour Packs

Not ready for a monthly commitment? Buy a pack of hours when you need them — same rates as the monthly package, no expiry date. Works exactly like my pay-as-you-go web support.

Questions people ask

Do I have to continue after the SEO Starter Pack?

No. It's a standalone piece of work. Some clients stop there — the technical fixes alone make a real difference. Others move to a monthly pack when there's a clear reason to keep going.

My site doesn't have a blog. Can you still help?

Absolutely. A lot of the most valuable SEO work — technical fixes, better page structure, optimised product or service pages — has nothing to do with blogging.

How long before I see results?

Technical fixes can show results within a few weeks. Broader ranking improvements typically take 3–6 months. I'll be realistic with you about what to expect for your specific site.

Does it matter what platform my site is on?

Every platform is a bit different — WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, custom-built — but there's always meaningful SEO work to be done regardless. I'll check your setup at the start so I know the best way to make improvements.
